Sylvia Jean Johnson

Sylvia Jean Johnson, 55, passed away on November 13, 2018 at Englewood, Hospital in Englewood, NJ. Beloved daughter of the late Henry and Virginia Johnson, devoted sister to the late Joanne Short, Sylvia is survived by relatives and countless friends.

Sylvia was born in West Chester, PA and lived in Perth Amboy and Edison, NJ before moving to Stroudsburg, PA 21 years ago. After graduating from West Philadelphia High School in 1980, Sylvia attended McCarrie School of Health Sciences and Technology and graduated in 1983 with a Medical Assistant Certificate. She worked at Perth Amboy Hospital as an EKG Technician. After pursuing further training in various medical specialties, Sylvia had a long tenure at Summit Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ as a Central Service Technician. Later she became a healthcare aide until the debilitating effects of lupus prevented her from continuing. Sylvia became an active member of the local chapter of the Lupus Foundation. And, despite the illnesses with which she contended, her deep love for others moved Sylvia to always help everyone. She was a wonderful caregiver and friend.

Sylvia was active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and enjoyed helping others to learn about Jehovah God and his wonderful promises found in the Bible. She loved her worldwide family and touched so many who cherished her friendship.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2279 Route 715, Reeders, PA 18352. Repast to follow.
