RECENT OBITUARIES
Ernest Chambers, Jr.

Ernest Chambers, Jr., 74 of Newark, NJ, was born on August 29, 1943 in Bishopville, South Carolina to the late Ernest & Annie Chambers. He made his transition into eternal rest on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Ernest was preceded in death by, one (1) sister Isabeller Chambers; three (3) brothers Timothy John, Willie James and Richard Cole.

Ernest received his formal education through the Bishop County Educational System and upon graduating from high school he relocated to Newark, New Jersey. Ernest worked several years prior to being drafted into the US Army in which he served in the Vietnam War.

Ernest was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1964. He later married Linda G. Chambers, (formally Williams) in which they produced three (3) children from their union and shortly after he started working for New Jersey Transit as a Transportation Specialist. Ernest decided to further his career by driving for commercially owned companies starting with Olympia Trails then Domenico Bus Charters and lastly Academy Bus until he retired in 2010.

Devoted Father of Devona Goss, Yolanda Chambers and Gerard Chambers. Dear Brother of Robert Lee Chambers, Lucious Chambers and Sally Mae Stukes. Loving Grandfather of Brianna, Keyanna, Nakita, Aaron, Dominique and Tyrese and Great-Grandfather of Alyse, followed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The family thanks everyone for their condolences and prayers during this time of mourning.

Visitation will be held at the Growney Funeral Home, 1070 North Broad Street, Hillside, N.J. 07205 on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. A service will follow at 12 Noon. In Lieu of flowers donations to The American Heart Association in the name of Ernest Chambers Jr. would be appreciated.
